(x) The Superb Cross of Merit with swords, Medal of Valour group of seven awarded to Corporal E. Stachowski, 2nd Armoured Regiment, Polish 1st Armoured Division, Polish Armed Forces in the West, who was wounded in July 1944

Edward Stachowski was born in 1915 and was serving with the 2nd Armoured Regiment, 10th Armoured Brigade, 1st Polish Armoured Division when they entered the war in France in July 1944. He was awarded a wound Badge for a wounded which occurred on 20 July 1944.
The Division went on to face savage action in the Falaise Pocket in August before moving north for service in Operation Pheasant, the Liberation of Brabant. They later captured the German Naval Base at Wilhelmshaven, accepting the surrender of the East Frisian Fleet and around 10 Infantry Divisions.
Stachowski was discharged on 8 May 1947; sold together with an archive of original material comprising:

2nd Armor badge, Kirkwood and Sons version multi part white metal, wartime issue with authorization document.
ii)
Document attesting to his aware of the Cross of Merit with Swords.
iii)
Document attesting to his wartime service.
iv)
Wound ribbon with one star and named card authorizing wear.
v)
Wartime drivers license.
vi)
Photograph of four N.C.O.s of 2nd Regiment from his company in their distinctive marked uniforms.
vii)
Battledress with distinctive bullion 2nd Armor Regt patch, 1st Armour Div Patch, Poland Flashes and Armor fourragères.
vii)
Polish war dated black armor beret with embroidered eagle and rank markings.
