The unit shared in the famed actions of Operation Crusader in North Africa, before transferring to Italy and notably in the approach to the Sangro.
They landed in Normandy on 7 June 1944 and it took park in Operation Epsom (26 June-2 July) and the Battle for Caen. They were present at the Battle of Villers-Bocage. Heavy losses were taken, particularly by the 4th County of London Yeomanry, the two Sharpshooters Regiments were amalgamated on 1 August 1944 at Carpiquet to form 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters).
