Ernest John Vernon Vilday was born on 31 March 1914 at Monmouthshire, Wales and enlisted with the Shropshire Light Infantry at Newport for service in the Second World War. Vilday served as a Corporal in the 1st Battalion overseas in North Africa, where he was stationed in Tunisia when he was killed in action on 5 May 1943. He was buried at the Massicault War Cemetery in Tunisia and left behind a widow, Doris Vilday; sold together with copied research.
