William Harold Taplin was born on 26 December 1897 at Botley, Hampshire, son of John Taplin. Enlisting in the Hampshire Regiment, William served at home before leaving with the Regiment for service in India in 1919; sold together with copied research, boxes of issue for the British War and Special Constabulary medals, Hampshire Regiment cap badge and an Empire Day commemorative medal.
