Reginald Mansfield Harvey was born in 1886 and lived at Shroton, Blandford and had served in the West Somerset Yeomanry from 1909-12. With the outbreak of the Great War, he enlisted in June 1915 and served in Gallipoli from 30 October 1915. Transferred to the Machine Gun Corps (Cavalry) in March 1917, he was appointed Signalling Corporal in the 17th Battalion in May 1917.
