Walter Langmuir Allison was born on 2 December 1888 and worked as an architect and surveyor as well as being the Darnaway Castle Estate Officer before he enlisted into the 2nd Battalion, Lovat's Scouts. This was a territorial force famous for being the first military unit to wear a ghillie suit. They were the British Army's first sniper unit, often nicknamed 'sharpshooters'. Although he enlisted on 10 September 1914, he disembarked 18 months later on the 26 September 1915 at Gallipoli. On 3 August 1916, Allison enlisted into the 3/2 Battalion, Lovat's Scouts. He was nominated for commission on 29 May 1917 and was gazetted as Second Lieutenant on 30 May 1917. He was promoted to Lieutenant, as mentioned in the London Gazette on 30 November 1918.

Lot comes with two New Testaments, four Lovat's Scouts badges, two identity tags, an envelope addressed to the recipient in which his medals were sent, and two photographs of the recipient, one on horseback at Namur and the other a portrait. Sold with copied research.
