Thomas Redman was born at Sunderland and was a butcher by trade. He attested into the Army Service Corps on 20 March 1880. He served in Egypt between 26 February 1885 - 7 July 1885 and then served between 8 July 1885 - 29 September 1899. Redman then served in South Africa between 30 September 1899 - 31 August 1901. He returned Home on 1 September 1901 and was discharged on 16 January 1902. Redman is further entitled to a Queen's South Africa Medal with clasp South Africa 1901.
