(x) East and West Africa 1887-1900, 1 clasp, Sierra Leone 1898-99 (1864 Pte. H. Davis 3/ W.I.R.), some edge bruising, suspension slightly loose otherwise about very fine
Howard Davis was born in 1876 in St James, Trinidad. He worked as a labourer before he attested on 26 November 1895 in Barbados, initially serving with the 1st Battalion, West India Regiment. He spent the first two and a half years serving at Home in the West Indies but later transferred to the 3rd Battalion on 1 March 1898. Then, Davies served in West Africa with the 3rd Battalion between 15 May 1898 - 7 November 1899. According to his service papers, he transferred back to the 1st Battalion on 4 June 1898 and remained with them for the rest of his service. He served in Bermuda from 8 November 1899 - 19 February 1901 before being sent back Home to the West Indies from 20 February 1901 - 15 March 1901. On this latter date, he was discharged from service as being medically unfit for service. He was further entitled to one good conduct badge.
