(x) Canada General Service 1866-70, 2 clasps, Fenian Raid 1866, Fenian Raid 1870 (850. Pte: W. Piggott. 1RB), very fine

William Piggott was born circa 1847 in Congleton, Cheshire and work worked as a ribbon weaver before he enlisted into the 1st Battalion, Rifle Brigade on 5 November 1864. Piggott served at home between November 1864-August 1865 before then serving in Canada for five years until September 1870. Following 10 years serving at home he then served in the East Indias from August 1880-January 1886. He then returned home and retired 18 day later on 9 February 1886, aged 39 years old. According to his service papers, Piggott was further entitled to a L.S. & G.C. Medal.
