(x) Waterloo 1815 (Corp. James Bowman, Royal Foot Artillery.), contemporary silver clip and straight bar suspension, very fine
James Bowman served as a Corporal under Captain James Sinclair and Captain Forbes McBean in Captain Gordon's Company (as named in the medal roll). In other books and research, the unit comes under the name of 'Captain Sinclair's Brigade'. They formed part of the 6th Division and had five 9-pounder canons, one 5.5-inch howitzer and consisted of 263 men of all ranks. They were not involved at the Battle of Quartre-Bras. Throughout the Battle of Waterloo, the Brigade remained in reserve near Mont St Jean, until later in the day, at 16:30, when it was sent to the front line 350 metres west of the Genappe road. There, it engaged with the French cavalry and the Imperial Guard.
