Wilhelm Schwerkholt joined as a 17-year-old volunteer on 31 August 1914, he fought on the Western Front and was taken POW on 29 September 1916 until his release on 9 November 1919. He was entitled to a disability pension and there is an exemption certificate from the Military dated 5 April 1943 on grounds of disability.
Sold with a quantity of original certificates and documentation together with the Soldbuch of Grenadier Hingant (?) Schwerkholt (father?), born 9 July 1865, who appears to have served in the 7th Company, 1st Prussian Guards Regiment.
