Joseph Eucher Yvon Bedard was born on 30 June 1948 at Quebec, Canada. Enlisting in the Canadian Forces on 15 January 1970 he was posted to the Airborne Service Commando at Petawawa on 31 July 1973. Advanced to Corporal the following month, he served in Cyprus with the Airborne Regiment from July to December 1974 followed by a posting to Germany during which he was promoted to Master Corporal on 16 May 1977. He died in service at Edmonton base hospital from cancer. His military qualifications included the Winter warfare course, parachutist course, combat small arms and base defence force duties; sold together with copied research, a parachute badge and his parachute qualification wings.
