Indian Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 1st issue, H.E.I.C. arms obverse (Sergt. Major Browne, Viceroy’s Body Guard), very fine

John Browne initially served as Assistant Farrier & Saddler Sergeant in No. 17 Light Field Battery and was made Quartermaster-Sergeant to the Viceroy's Body Guard as per GO 113 of March 1948. Appointed to the Veterinary charge of the horses of the Body Guard from March 1956 and was pensioned in July 1861.
