Reginald Charles Goverd was born at Shepton Mallet, Somerset on 28 September 1887, the son of George and Sarah Goverd. He enlisted on 20 January 1905 and appeared on the 1911 census as a Saddler with the Royal Artillery, living at 4 Poplar Cottages, Buckhurst Road, Camberley. Entering the war in France on 23 August 1914 he served there until the end of the war, appearing on the medal roll as Farrier Sergeant, presumably a rank he received after the conflict ended. He retired to Somerset and died at Mendip, Somerset on 7 January 1979; sold together with copied research.
