Military Medal, G.V.R. (1350 S. Sjt: R. Turner. 1/1 S.M.F.A. R.A.M.C.-T.F.), contact marks, very fine

M.M. London Gazette 9 November 1916.

Roland Turner was born circa 1893 and served in the Great War as a Staff Serjeant with the 1/1st (South Midland) Field Ambulance in the Royal Army Medical Corps. He was posted overseas to serve in France, where he disembarked with his unit on 30 March 1915. Just a few months after arriving on the Western Front on 25 June Turner was admitted to 18th General Hospital after suffering from an abdominal contusion as a result of a horse kick whilst stationed at Pont-de-Nieppe. Luckily young Turner was not in hospital for long and was discharged the following week on 3 July.

The next year he was gazetted for his award of the Military Medal in November 1916. Turner served throughout the rest of the War and was finally demobilised on 6 May 1919. He was further entitled to a 1914-15 Star Trio; sold together with copied research.
