John William Blenkin was born on 26 February 1914 at Basingstoke, Hampshire. He served throughout the Second World War and was awarded his L.S. & G.C. with H.M.S. Messina, the former Landing Ship Tank 3043. It was awarded at H.M.S. St. Angelo at Malta in January 1949, he was still in service in 1953 and is attested to on the roll of the Coronation medal as Chief Petty Officer Stoker Mechanic. Leaving service he was married at Hull, Yorkshire and returned to Basingstoke where he died in December 1985; sold together with copied research.
