Friend Furrance George Oakley was born on 1 November 1906 and was a spray painter living with his wife on the Milner Estates in East London upon the outbreak of the Second World War. Enlisting in the Kaffrarian Rifles in June 1940, he shared in their night attack on Bardia on 1-2 January 1942. Oakley himself was wounded with a compound fracture of his left thigh and a gunshot wound to the chest; sold together with copied service records.
