Glen Alvan Gorman - or 'Nugget' to his friends and comrades - was born on 7 May 1905 at Zeehan, Tasmania and was a miner at Grants Patch, Ora Banda, near Kalgoorlie by 1939. Having enlisted on 9 May 1941, he served in Malaya with the 2/4th Machine Gun Battalion. Gorman was serving with 'A' Company HQ near Buona Vista, Singapore (map reference 784112) when he was killed in action by an enemy barrage on 15 February 1942. He is buried in the Kranji War Cemetery.
