British War Medal 1914-20 (2694 Pte. E. W. Orchard. 2 Pnr. Bn. A.I.F.); Munro (Victoria) Great War Service gold (marked 15 carat - 6g) fob, obverse depicting a serviceman flanked by kangaroo & emu, topped with a boomerang and foliage of native gum trees as laurels below, the reverse engraved 'Presented to No. 2694 Pte. E. W. Orchard 21st Battn AIF from the Residents of Munro in Recognition of Services in the Gt. European War 4.9.19.', very fine (2)

Ernest Walter Orchard was born in 1897 at Stratford, Victoria and enlisted into the Australian Imperial Force at Sale, Victoria in April 1916. He Served with the 2nd Pioneer Battalion and suffered a severe scald to his left foot in May 1917. Recovered, he joined the 21st Battalion in France from July 1917 and returned home in June 1919.
