Christopher James Sheward/Stewart was born at Stourport, Worcestershire on 14 December 1895 and enlisted into the Royal Flying Corps in July 1915. He served in France as a Wireless Operator with No. 7 Squadron from September 1915 and joined No. 5 Squadron by December 1918.
