Thomas McLean was born in Glasgow circa 1893, the son of James and Jeanie McLean of Gladstone Terrace, Mary St. in Dunoon, Argyll. He served during the Great War as a Private with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, first under regimental number 791 and later under number 300050. McLean and his unit were embarked for France on 1 May 1915, and there they served for a number of years at the western front. It was there on 21 March 1918, the first day that Germany launched their deadly Spring Offensive, that McLean died of his wounds. He was 25 years old and was buried at the Ham British Cemetery at Muille-Villette in France. He is further entitled to a 1914-15 Star and a British Victory Medal; sold together with copied research.
