William Marchant served with the Royal Horse Artillery and the Royal Field Artillery. He landed in France on 11 September 1914 and was further entitled to the British War and Victory Medals. His wife applied for his medals in 1924.
C Doyle served as a Fireman in the Merchant Fleet Auxiliary. He was also entitled to British War and Victory Medal.
Phillipp Freed was born in 1885 in Chelsea, Middlesex to Charles and Julia Freed. He was a Private in the Royal Army Medical Corps, serving with the 76th Field Ambulance. He landed on the Western Front on 15 May 1915 and served in the 25th Division in several battles, including the Battle of the Somme and the capture of Thiepval, the Battle of Bazentin, the Battle of Pozieres, the Battle of the Ancre Heights and his final battle, the Battle of Messines. This latter battle lasted from 7 - 14 June 1917. On 10 June, Freed was killed in action. He was buried in Westhof Farm Cemetery, Belgium.
Albert Lewis Mason served with the 2nd Battalion Liverpool Regiment in Aden from April 1915. He was further entitled to British War and Victory Medal and the India General Service Medal with Afghanistan N.W.F. 1919 clasp.
Wali Dad served with the 1st Battalion, 56th Punjabi Rifles, Frontier Force. He died on 13 January 1916 and is commemorated upon the Basra Memorial, Iraq.
William Frederick Goffin was born in Rugby, Warwickshire and later served with the 5th Battalion, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. He was sent to the Western Front on 20 May 1915. Only four months later he was killed in action in Flanders, on the first day of the Battle of Loos. The battle was the biggest British attack of 1915, the first Great War battle where the British used chlorine gas. The loss on the first day was stark: Goffin was one of 587 men who were killed. He is commemorated upon the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. He was also entitled to British War and Victory Medal.
