China 1900, no clasp (88706 Shog. Smith R. Butcher B. By.. R.H.A.), mounted as worn, minor official correction to number, good very fine

Richard Butcher was born at Ashford, Kent, and enlisted into the Royal Artillery at Woolwich on 2 February 1892 having previously been a farm labourer. He saw service in India from 25 November 1893 until he returned home on 5 November 1895, where he served until 31 January 1898. Butcher returned to India on 1 February 1898, where he was appointed Shoeing Smith on 4 October 1899. He left India on 12 August 1900 embarking for China where he remained until 11 November 1901. Butcher returned once again to India on 12 November 1901 and was stationed there until his final return home on 10 March 1904, being discharged on the same day. This Medal is his sole entitlement.
