(x) Queen's South Africa 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal (51670 Gnr: J. Austin. 9th Bty: R.F.A.), light contact marks, very fine

James Austin was born at Stone, Staffordshire in 1866 and attested at Lichfield on 17 November 1885. Posted to India on 24 September 1888 he served there for some time with No. 35 Battery until 17 November 1893. Joining the War in South Africa on 28 January 1900 he remained there until 28 July 1902 when he returned to Britain, being discharged on 1 August.
