(x) Mayor of Kimberley's Star 1899-1900, the reverse contemporary engraved 'H. T. Strugnell', reverse hallmark with date letter ‘a’, with integral top riband bar, good very fine

Harry Thomas Strugnell is understood to have been born at Stroud circa 1860 and went out to South Africa around 1883. He was a member of the Kamfersdam Company of the Kimberley Town Guard and latterly became involved in local affairs. In later years he was a keen member of the Kimberley Society and designed the bookplate for the local library besides penning The Spirit of the Mountain - an historical pageant for the Union Exhibition of 1909; sold together with old letter related to the recipient, besides photograph of him during the Boer War.
