The India General Service Medal awarded to Gunner E. Shardlow, 10th Field Battery, Royal Artillery, who died of enteric fever at Rawalpindi in 1898

Edwin Shardlow was born at Stone, Staffordshire in 1873, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Shardlow and attested at Lichfield on 23 June 1891. He was posted to India on 22 September 1893 with 10th Battery, taking part in the British operations against unrest on the Northwest Frontier with thus unit between 1897-98. Shardlow was stationed at Rawalpindi on 30 May 1898 when he died of enteric fever, quite possibly contracted during his active service; sold together with copied paperwork.
