India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Northwest Frontier (461 Pte. J. Jones. 3 Bn. Rif. Bde.), good very fine
John Jones was born at Westminster, London in 1833 and attested at Gosport on 16 March 1855. He served in India for 13 years and five months during which time he saw service during the Indian Mutiny and on the Northwest Frontier. Jones was present for the final capture of Lucknow (Medal and clasp), escaping uninjured he was sent to Darjeeling in 1870 suffering from fever and was invalided from service in August 1871; sold together with copied service papers.
