(x) Crimea 1854-56, no clasp (T. Dollman. H.M.S. Tribune.), depot impressed naming, very fine
Thomas Dollman was born in February 1838 at Chichester, Sussex, being educated at the Whitby School before joining the Royal Navy (No. 16107) in October 1854. Dollman served in the Black Sea (Medal with clasp) and off China (Medal) in the Tribune. Latterly joining the Harrier, he landed in New Zealand in 1860 and settled there when his vessel returned to England. Having resided in Auckland for some time, he went off to the West Coast in 1867 and found home in the Buller district. Having been manager and proprietor of the Charleston Herald for some years, he was also a Bailiff of the Magistrate Court, Warden's Court & District Court. Dollman returned to Westport and was made Secretary & Librarian of the Westport Free Library and Athenaeum. He died in May 1910.
