Graham Ronald Arnold was born at Adelaide, South Australia on 21 March 1941, enlisting on 7 February 1959 before moving to the Royal Military College at Duntroon. Commissioned Lieutenant on 12 December 1962 he was posted to the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, later joining the 1st Signal Regiment on 18 February 1965.
Joining at Singapore on 22 March 1966 he served attached to the 19th Signals Regiment, Far East Land Force (a British unit) for duty which included Sabah and Sarawak. He returned to Sydney in April and was promoted Captain on 12 December the same year.
Joining the 104th Signals Squadron on 16 February 1968 Arnold saw service in South Vietnam with that unit, returning to Australia in May 1969. Upon his return he joined 152nd Signals Squadron (SAS), being noted several times in the unit history.
Arnold continued to serve, visiting Britian for a course with the Royal Military College of Science, later being advanced Major on 12 December 1972. After a stint at the Senior Instructor Signals School, Watsonia he was discharged with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel on 24 March 1980; sold together with copied research.
