Victorian silver part table service of Admiralty pattern flatware, cased by Spink & Son, Silversmiths, 2 Gracechurch St, EC., various makers, the majority by George Adams and in the early-mid Victorian era, including 12 (of each) table spoons, dessert spoons, tea spoons, dessert forks, table forks, besides fish knife, sugar tongs, soup ladle, gravy spoons (2), sauce ladles (2), salt ladles (4), mustard spoons (2), each item with the family crest attractively hand-engraved to the reverse, all housed in fitted wooden case, generally very fine, total of 73 pieces for approximately 178 ounces

Presented to Admiral Sir G. J. A. Miles, K.C.B., K.C.S.I., Royal Navy at his wedding in 1919 by Sir Charles William Miles, O.B.E., 5th Baronet, thence by descent to the present owner.
The Miles family Medals sold in these rooms in April 2021.
In June 1883, Spink purchased from the Admiralty '...upward of 30,000 ounces of Old English Plain Pattern Spoons and Forks of Her Majesty's Government.' This set was probably purchased by the family in the late 1880s.
