(x) International Order of Allied Mothers in Sacrifice, bronze medal, named on the reverse to 'Winnifred C. Creighton', additionally inscribed on the obverse 'Stanley J. Creighton', by Wellings, Toronto, mounted as worn, good very fine

Stanley John Creighton was born in London, Ontario on 7 May 1892. Upon his enlistment at Montreal on 12 April 1915, Creighton was a well-regarded engineering student at Queen's University in Kingston. He had also been a Cadet Musketry instructor. Before enrolling as a student at Kingston, Creighton had a career as a teacher at St. Jean Baptiste School in Ottawa and was the principal of Prince Edward School, St. Catharine's, Ontario.

After enlistment, Creighton joined the 38th Battalion C.E.F. and Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry with regimental number 411129. He was quickly embarked to France in July, where he served reportedly served on the front-line trenches for most of his time overseas. Creighton's medial records also show that he suffered from myopia (near-sightedness) for which he was admitted to the field ambulance on multiple occasions.

Creighton was just 23 years old when he was killed in action during the Battle of Ypres at some point between 2-4 June 1916. His mother Winnifred, with whom he had been living before his enlistment at 435 Oxford Street in Ontario, was notified of his death. Creighton is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial and Winnifred received this International Order of Allied Mothers in Sacrifice medal for his death.

Her son would have been entitled to a 1914-15 Star trio; sold together with copied research.
