(x) The 1919 O.B.E. group of eight awarded to Paymaster Captain A. C. M. Edmonds, O.B.E., Royal Navy

O.B.E. London Gazette 31 July 1919, the original citation states:

'For valuable services as Secretary to Commodore Aubrey C. H. Smith, M.V.O., East Coast of South America Station.'

Archibald Charles Mackay Edmonds was born at Osaka, Japan on 13 January 1887 and entered the Royal Navy on 15 July 1904 as an assistant clerk. He received glowing reports about his ability throughout his naval career although it was noted that he was very short sighted. He was primarily shore based during his career being awarded the O.B.E. in 1919 which he was invested with at Buckingham Palace on 17 March 1920.

In 1927 he served as Paymaster Commander to Admiral Sir F.C. Dreyer when he commanded the Battle Cruiser Squadron from Hood. Promoted to Captain in 1937 he served at Portsmouth and the Admiralty during the Second World War. Edmonds was placed on the retired list on 13 January 1942.

Edmonds died at Bognor Regis, Sussex on 13 September 1961; sold together with copied research and his mounted ribbon bar with 6 medal ribbons.
