Harijs Augusts Johansons was born in Latvia on 22 May 1934, the son of Harijs and Ruta Johansons of 2/25 First Street, Black Rock, Victoria. He was educated at South Brisbane High School and later Queensland University, becoming a Civil Engineer upon his graduation.
Enlisting on 5 January 1955 he joined the Queensland University Regiment, Citizen Military Forces on 22 March 1955/ Advanced Sergeant by 1957 he was posted to the 4th Corps Engineer Regiment on 10 December 1958. While there Johansons was commissioned Lieutenant with the Royal Australian Engineers, Northern Command on 16 March 1959 he was posted to 28th Field Park Squadron.
Transferring to Southern Command in 1963 he was advanced Captain on 19 November 1964, becoming a Staff Officer the next year. Finally promoted Major on 15 November 1972 he served in the Melbourne University Regiment and the 7th Field Engineer Regiment. Johansons joined the retired list on 10 August 1983; sold together with copied research.
