Harold Bertram Orman was born at Christchurch, Hampshire on 30 August 1920 and enlisted in the Royal Artillery on 30 August 1937. Serving on the North West Frontier of India, Palestine in the 7th Field Regiment he entered the Second World War with 132 (Welsh) Field Regiment. Oram was reported wounded in the Middle East, this was subsequently deleted in error.

The Battery served as part of the 78 Infantry Division, being posted to Centuripe and Foggia in Sicily from 19 July 1943-4 August 1943. Returning to North Africa for the rest of 1943 he returned home until 1 June 1944 before being deployed to North West Europe until 7 March 1945. From there he again returned home until 17 April 1945 followed by North West Europe until 5 March 1946. Discharged to the Reserve on 13 July 1946 his conduct was described as exemplary. Orman died at Newbridge on 3 July 1979; sold together with his original certificate of service, original soldiers release book, copied certificate of education and research.
