Henry Pierce was born at Brighton, Sussex, in 1887, he enlisted into the Sussex Yeomanry at Brighton and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Pierce, of 10, Hartington Rd., Brighton. Pierce was killed in action on 31 August 1916 during a German Attack whilst serving as part of the 9th Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
