Cyril Edward Perkins entered the war with the 1st Dragoons on 15 August 1914 and served with the Regiment until 16 April 1915 when he transferred to the Army Veterinary Corps. At some stage after this he was posted to the Royal Field Artillery however it is not clear when. He does however appear upon a casualty role in 1918 serving with 'D' Battery, 180th Brigade, suffering with gunshot wounds to the right thigh and side. Despite this Perkins survived the war.
