1914-15 Star (1640 Sjt. E. A. Letts. R.F.C.), some evidence of acidic reaction, otherwise very fine
Edgar Ashley Letts was born at Guildford, Surrey on 7 February 1881 and joined the Royal Flying Corps on 28 August 1914 and was a Driver (M.T.). He entered the war in France on 10 October 1915 serving with No.12 Squadron until 10 May 1916 before returning home. He was promoted to Flight Sergeant on 1 September 1916 and served in France between 5 March and 23 July 1917, this time seeing service with No. 55 Squadron before returning home for the second time. He was given the rank of Chief Mechanic with the formation of the Royal Air Force and served in France for the final time from 18 April 1918 until 3 March 1919. He was discharged on 19 December 1922 and is entitled to a 1914-15 Star trio.
