Michael Early was born in 1895 at Granard, Longford and worked as a fowl dealer prior to enlisting with the Leinster Regiment, with the service number 35072. Entering the war in France on 9 December 1915 he served for the duration of the war but is noted as forfeiting his medals on 20 December 1918 due to desertion. He is noted as re-applying so it is unclear whether this was accepted, and he is further entitled to a 1914-15 trio.
Early did re-attest at Portsmouth on 18 February 1919, listing his address as New Street, Granard, County Longford, being posted to the 2nd Battalion. He was discharged on 29 June 1922 with his pension papers listing a gunshot wound, a later pension documents notes that he had died; sold together with copied research including pension documents.
