Queen's South Africa 1899-1902, 1 clasp, Cape Colony (2736, Pte.A. Hobson, A.O.C.), very fine

John Edward Rick Irons was born at Melton Mowbray in 1882. A twenty-year-old engine cleaner he enlisted in the Royal Army Medical Corps on 6 February 1902 and served in South Africa from 6 March 1902 until 8 November 1902, being discharged on 14 November 1902.

Abraham Hobson was born at Saint Peters, Drogheda, Louth, Ireland. An 18-year-old clerk he enlisted in the Royal Irish Fusiliers on 18 January 1888, subsequently transferring to the Ordnance Store Corps on 3 September 1890. He served in South Africa and was discharged on 15 January 1901.
