Motilal Nehru (1861-1931)
1921 Typed letter signed by Nehru, Indian lawyer, activist and politician and father of Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first Prime Minister. Nehru writes on notepaper of the "Office of the All-India Congress Committee, Anand Bhawan, Allahabad" to the Civil Chaplain at Lucknow, referring to his son and difficulties in bringing "together the leading men of all shades of opinion at a social function". Nehru had been President of the India National Congress from 1919-1920 and later 1928-1929.
