PA RUM SUCCESIT FECI SEDULO ., Roman soldier attempting to tear open a lion's jaws, 49mm, 55.43g [855.42grns] (MI, 613.22; Eimer 277), some cabinet friction to the obverse field, otherwise with a handsome flashy-lustre and cabinet toning, in hues of ochre and blues, extremely fine, scarce, in NGC holder, graded MS63 (Cert. #8222323-004)

This medal was probably executed by Jan Smeltzing, after the failure of Monmouth, who claimed the merit of attempting to be the defender of the faith and liberties of England against the encroachments of James.
