The Collection of Graham Slater, Bonhams 31402, 15 April 2025, lot 47 [with old ticket]

When Charles I ascended to the throne in 1625, Scotland insisted that he should also be crowned there, as well as in London. The ceremony took place at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, Edinburgh on 18 June 1633. An elaborate royal tour followed.

This medal has been attributed to Nicholas Briot, although due to stylistic differences with his signed work, it opens the possibility to it having been created by another hand, such as the Mint's chief engraver, Edward Green.
