1819 two Malay letters in yellow silk envelopes both written on the same day, the 25th of the fourth month of the Javanese year Alip, 1235 both letters are from the Gusti Ketut Karangasem, Balinese Raja of the Island of Sela Parang (now Lombok) addressed to two English officers in England. Both bearing the seal of the Raja and with interesting content, the Gusti wishes to buy two ships and rifles. Accompanying the lot a British Museum report (1964) on the two letters. A wonderful and most unusual duo.
