Natal Field Force: 1900 (6 Aug.) envelope to Winnipeg bearing G.B. 1d. lilac tied by a good strike of large "army post office/3 m b/south africa" in purple which was applied at Volksrust, with the arrival c.d.s. on the reverse (16.9); also a second, stampless cover to Ottawa, used on the same day with the same despatch c.d.s. overstruck by London Paid c.d.s. (3.9), some wrinkling; both covers marked as from members of "Strathcona's Horse". Good examples of this scarce postmark when the company had been changed to the Third Mounted Brigade. (2 covers)
