Trinidad
1855 (16 Oct.) envelope with two enclosures to London with a good strike of the red Crowned circle "paid/at/trinidad", London tombstone arrival of 14 November in red alongside and with further Trinidad datestamp on reverse; two closed tears and staining at top. An extraordinary new discovery predating the earliest recorded example in private hands which invites the rewriting of the literature. Photo

Note: The Stanley Gibbons catalogue states "No. CC1 is recorded in the G.P.O. record book on 21 March 1852, but no examples have been recorded on cover before February 1858."
