1928 South Georgia provisional, a rare first day usage (7 Feb.) on envelope to England, endorsed "Per S/S Albuera", the adhesive cancelled by Heijtz SG2 c.d.s., accompanied with 1938 letter from H.E. Wingfield explaining that the sender "was at the time of the issue in the Treasury Dept., and was in South Georgia. He sent a cover to each member of the family", from which Wingfield then purchased them. Mail was collected on 8 February, 1928 and taken by S.S. Albuera, a cargo ship, to Buenos Aires for onward transmission by ship via England; Some minor peripheral faults, but only a few first day usages are known. S.G. 115, £1,500. Photo.
