1850 (2 Sep) entire letter from John Hogg, watchmaker of
Wanganui to William Fox, Principal Agent of the New Zealand Company in Wellington. On the front is a blurred Crowned circle "paid/ at/ petre new zealand" in red and unframed Wellington New Zealand c.d.s. (6.9). On the back is a black unframed Petre New Zealand (3.9) c.d.s. Manuscript "Per Paid", on the front with "8" denoting eight pence paid by the sender, a double rate item as there were enclosures. Accompanied by a transcription of the letter which deals with signatures required for a land claim, with some biographical detail on John Hogg. S.G. CC5. Photo
