Southern Rhodesia, British Administration, £5, Salisbury, 1st July 1942, serial number C/3 091772, sign. Tucker & Fox, blue on multicolour underprint, without white £5 underprint, George VI at right. On the front of the note are Wankie Colliery buildings, the headquarters of Wankie (now Hwange) Colliery Company Ltd, an open cast and underground coal mine founded in 1899 which continues to operate as the largest coal mine in the country. The note's reverse features at the left the Sable Antelope, the national emblem of Rhodesia depicted on the Rhodesian flag and the coat of arms of the Federation of Rhodesia & Nyasaland, and in the centre Victoria Falls, one of the world's largest and most iconic waterfalls, located at the border of Zamia and Zimbabwe.
