Check letters obscured, close to enormous margins at top and foot, tied by Christchurch '200' barred numeral in dark brown shade to 1854 (May) envelope to London, the reverse with dispatch d.s. in matching ink and arrival marking in red. Reverse flap with tear otherwise fine and scarce, this shade of cancellation having been unrecorded.
