1840 (May) a small group of covers with dates around 1840 (6 May) with (2 May) entire to Oswestry with manuscript "P1" in red ink, the reverse bearing undated thimble Wem open circle, Shrewsbury (3.5) and Oswestry (4.5) c.d.s.; 1840 (5 May) entire to Sittingbourne earing manuscript "2" in black ink with superb Windsor c.d.s. alongside with London transit (6.5) on the reverse; (6 May) entire to Preston bearing handstruck "Pd 1" in red ink with Halifax despatch c.d.s. in blue on the flap, the contents acknowledge the receipt of half a thousand pound banknote; (6 May) entire to Deal bearing handstruck "paid 1d" in red ink, the reverse bearing a fine strike of New-Romsey despatch c.d.s.; also 1844 (18 July) entire bearing straight-line "breewood" handstamp and 1844 (10 July) entire bearing undated "gretabridge" open circle postmark.
